FIVE DAYS CERTIFICATE COURSE ON ‘CIRCUIT DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF PCB’ – 12.08.2024 to 17.08.2024

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a five days certificate course on ‘CIRCUIT DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF PCB’ from 12.08.2024 to 17.08.2024. The students of  III year Electrical and Electronics Engineering participated in this programme. V. G Padmpriya of III year EEE welcomed the gathering and R. Nithyalakshmi of III year EEE introduced the resource persons to the audience.

The resource person of the programme was Dr. N. Pothirasan, M.Tech., Ph.D., Director and Mr. M. Karthick M.E., Software Developer, Hashan Medicare, Rajapalayam. Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, Professor and Head of the Department delivered the presidential address to the participants and briefed the fundamentals of PCB design.

In day 1, Dr. N. Pothirasan introduced the Circuit Design and PCB Basics, overview of electronic components and circuit design, understanding the basics of PCBs and their importance in electronics. He explained the schematic capture and layout design of PCB using proteus software.

In day 2, Mr. M. Karthick created circuit schematics using PCB design software, simulation of circuit designs to ensure functionality and troubleshooting and optimizing circuit designs.

In day 3, Dr. N. Pothirasan covered the schematics into PCB layouts. He explained the design rules of PCB layout (trace width, spacing, etc.) and Techniques for efficient component placement and routing.

In day 4, Dr. N. Pothirasan covered the overview of PCB fabrication techniques (e.g., etching, milling) and hands-on experience with PCB fabrication tools and equipment.

In day 5, Mr. M. Karthick introduced the advanced PCB design concepts (e.g., multilayer boards, surface-mount technology.

Mr. M. Karthick also covered testing, troubleshooting techniques and debugging of the fabricated PCBs. This programme served as an eye opening session for the students. At the end of the session, the resource persons cleared the queries. Participants provided positive feedback on the course content, structure, and practical sessions. Many highlighted the hands-on experience as the most valuable aspect of the course. Several participants expressed their interest in pursuing further advanced courses in PCB design and fabrication. Dr. C. Senthil Kumar, Professor and Head of the Department and Dr. N. Pothirasan distributed the certificates to the participants. K. Gayathri of III year EEE delivered the vote of thanks. Totally 57 students participated in this programme.
