The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of AAA College of Engineering and Technology organized a Workshop on “Hands-on PLC Programming & Industrial Control” on 27.08.2026 (Thursday) from 1:30 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. at Thomas Alva Edison Hall, First Floor and Cambridge Block. The workshop was organized for the III Year EEE students with the objective of providing practical exposure to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and their applications in industrial control and automation.
The session was conducted by Mr. P. Selva Vignesh, Alumnus (2015–2019 Batch – EEE) and Founder, Tech Solution, Sivakasi, who served as the Resource Person. His academic background in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and practical experience in the field of automation provided the students with valuable insights into PLC programming and industrial control applications.
During the workshop, the resource person introduced the students to the fundamentals of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and their significance in modern industrial automation. He explained the basic architecture, working principles, programming concepts, and control logic associated with PLC-based systems. The students were provided with hands-on exposure to PLC programming and were guided in developing and implementing control logic for industrial applications. The practical demonstrations enabled the students to understand how PLCs are utilized for machine control, sequential operations, process automation, and industrial control.
The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industrial requirements by providing students with practical knowledge of PLC programming and automation technologies. It helped the students understand the application of concepts related to Industrial Automation, Control Systems, Electrical Machines, Digital Electronics, and Industrial Instrumentation in real-time industrial environments. The session also emphasized the importance of developing practical programming and problem-solving skills for pursuing careers in industrial automation and control engineering.
The students actively participated in the hands-on activities and interacted with the resource person throughout the session. They raised questions related to PLC programming, control logic, automation applications, and industrial practices, and received practical guidance from the resource person. The interactive nature of the workshop helped the students strengthen their logical thinking, programming skills, and understanding of industrial control systems.
The workshop provided the students with valuable practical exposure to PLC programming and industrial automation and enhanced their ability to connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications. The hands-on experience improved their technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and awareness of industry-oriented automation practices. The interaction with an EEE alumnus and industry professional also motivated the students to develop additional technical competencies and explore career opportunities in PLC programming, industrial automation, control systems, and related fields. The workshop was highly beneficial in enhancing the practical and industry-oriented skills of the III Year EEE students.
