The Department of Civil Engineering organized the GATE 2027 Orientation Programme on 10 July 2026 from 1.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. in the Sir Isaac Newton Seminar Hall, Cambridge Block for the II, III and IV Year B.E. Civil Engineering students. The programme was conducted by Dr. B. Jegatheeswaran, Assistant Professor and Department GATE Coordinator, with the objective of creating awareness about the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and motivating students to begin systematic preparation from the undergraduate level. The session covered the importance of GATE for higher education, admissions to IITs, NITs and IISc, PSU recruitment, examination pattern, syllabus, preparation strategy, and subject-wise planning. Students were also introduced to GATE-oriented NPTEL certification courses mapped to the Anna University curriculum, enabling them to strengthen their conceptual knowledge while earning IIT-certified credentials. The programme concluded with an interactive discussion in which students clarified their doubts regarding GATE preparation, NPTEL registration, higher studies, scholarships, and career opportunities. The programme benefited the II, III and IV Year Civil Engineering students by providing a clear roadmap for GATE preparation and encouraging them to register for suitable NPTEL certification courses aligned with their academic curriculum.
