Two days industrial visit to Masco Tea Factory, Vagamon, Kerala, on 03.09.2026 and Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Company (KEL), Kochi on 04.09.2026.
As a part of the academic curriculum, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, AAA College of Engineering and Technology, organized a two-day industrial visit for the students to Masco Tea Factory, Vagamon, Kerala, on 03.09.2026 and Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Company (KEL), Kochi, on 04.09.2026. A team of 53 students, along with the faculty members Mr. J. Raguraman and Mrs. C. Mohana visited the industry. The visit was planned to provide students with practical exposure to industrial operations, electrical systems, automation, machinery, and manufacturing processes, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world industrial applications.
OBJECTIVES OF THE VISIT
The primary objectives of the industrial visit were:
· To provide students with practical exposure to real-time industrial operations and manufacturing processes.
· To understand the application of electrical and electronic systems in different industrial sectors.
· To observe the operation of electrical machines, motors, drives, control panels, and automation systems.
· To understand the role of instrumentation and process control in industrial applications.
· To gain awareness of industrial power distribution and electrical safety practices.
· To understand equipment maintenance, quality control, and production practices followed in industries.
· To interact with industry professionals and learn about real-time industrial challenges.
· To bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and their practical implementation.
· To enhance students’ technical knowledge, observational skills, teamwork, and professional awareness.
VISIT TO MASCO TEA FACTORY, VAGAMON
On 03.09.2026, the students visited Masco Tea Factory, Vagamon, to gain practical exposure to tea processing and manufacturing operations. The students were introduced to the different stages involved in processing tea and observed the machinery and systems used in the production process.
The technical personnel explained the importance of proper equipment operation, preventive maintenance, process monitoring, quality control, and safety measures. The visit helped students understand how electrical engineering concepts are integrated with industrial processing systems to achieve efficient and reliable production.
VISIT TO KERALA ELECTRICAL AND ALLIED ENGINEERING COMPANY, KOCHI
On 04.09.2026, the students visited Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Company (KEL), Kochi, which provided them with exposure to an electrical engineering-oriented industrial environment.
The interaction with the technical personnel provided valuable information about equipment operation, testing, maintenance, production standards, and workplace safety. The students were able to relate their academic learning in subjects such as Electrical Machines, Power Electronics, Control Systems, Measurements and Instrumentation, Power Systems, and Industrial Automation to their practical applications in industry.
OUTCOME OF THE VISIT
The two-day industrial visit provided the students with valuable first-hand exposure to two different industrial environments. The visit to Masco Tea Factory, Vagamon, helped students understand the application of electrical systems, motors, drives, instrumentation, and automation in a processing industry. The visit to Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Company, Kochi, provided exposure to electrical engineering-related manufacturing activities, testing procedures, quality control, maintenance, and industrial safety practices.
The visit also enhanced the students’ technical knowledge, observational skills, teamwork, communication skills, and industry awareness. Exposure to different industrial sectors helped them appreciate the diverse career opportunities available to Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduates.
