Basics of Intellectual Property Rights and its Importance for Innovators and Entrepreneurs held on 23-12-2024


The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an “Basics of Intellectual Property Rights and its Importance for Innovators and Entrepreneurs”. This session took place on December 23, 2024, from 11.00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m at Thomas Alwa Edison Hall. The objective of this program is to develop knowledge about Intellectual Property Rights.
The session commenced with a prayer song followed by welcome address by Ms.M. Lathika Sri, final-year student in Computer Science and Engineering and introduced the esteemed speaker. Dr. I. Kantharaj, Assistant Professor, Jain University, Bengaluru served as the resource person for the session.
The Chief Guest provided us very useful and cleared information about Intellectual Property Rights. He explained Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) by What is IPR?, Why we go for IPR?, What is it Importance? What are all its characteristics?, What are the types present in IPR like Patents, Copyrights, Trademark and Trade Secrets. Finally, he discussed about the Process and Procedure of IPR like Drafting Patent Specification, Provisional Patent Application and so on. So his talk was helpful, and many students shared their opinions and asked questions. The program was coordinated by Dr.G.Rajeswari AP(Sr.Gr)/CSE and presided over by Dr.G.Vairamuthu ASP/Mech.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the organizers, Ms. G.Anushiya, a final-year student in Computer Science and Engineering, delivered a vote of thanks.
More than 90 students from various departments participated in the session. The event drew to a close at 12.30 p.m. with the rendition of the national anthem.
