Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design & Technology)

The Department of VLSI enables the students to acquaint themselves with the latest developments in the field of computational technologies and also to learn innovative approaches in programming subjects.

Lab Facilities

VLSI Design Laboratory

The VLSI Design Laboratory is established to provide students with comprehensive hands-on experience in the design and analysis of integrated circuits. The laboratory is equipped with advanced computing systems and industry-standard simulation tools to support digital and analog VLSI design experiments.

Students gain practical exposure to CMOS circuit design, logic synthesis, and layout design techniques. The lab enables students to simulate and verify digital circuits, analyze timing constraints, and understand power optimization strategies. It also facilitates mini-projects and research activities in areas such as ASIC design, low-power VLSI, and System-on-Chip (SoC) development.

FPGA & Embedded Systems Laboratory

The FPGA & Embedded Systems Laboratory provides a platform for students to implement real-time digital systems using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). The laboratory is equipped with FPGA development boards, microcontroller kits, and interfacing modules.

Students learn to design and implement hardware systems using Hardware Description Languages (HDL) such as Verilog and VHDL. The lab supports applications including digital signal processing, communication systems, and IoT hardware design. It bridges the gap between theoretical concepts and practical implementation by enabling rapid prototyping and hardware validation.

EDA Tools Laboratory

The EDA (Electronic Design Automation) Tools Laboratory is designed to familiarize students with industry-standard software used in semiconductor design and verification. The lab includes high-performance computing systems installed with professional tools for circuit simulation, synthesis, layout design, and verification.

Students are trained in the complete VLSI design flow, including front-end design (RTL coding, simulation, synthesis) and back-end design (floor planning, placement, routing, and physical verification). This lab plays a crucial role in enhancing employability by providing exposure to real-world chip design environments.
