The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), in association with the Department of Civil Engineering, organized a Guest Lecture titled ‘Innovative entrepreneurial idea in building quantity and cost estimation.’ The session took place on October 12, 2023, at 03.00 p.m.

Dr. G. Vairamuthu, President of IIC, presided over the event. The session commenced with a welcome address from Mr. M. Sivasankar, EDC Coordinator.

Mr. K. V. Hari Variar, a Consulting Civil Engineer at Sanketha Software Solutions, Kerala, served as the resource person for the session. He initiated the session by explaining the need for estimation software in the civil engineering field. After that, he elaborated on the various parameters that should be considered for developing estimation software. He also shared the difficulties he faced during the marketing of Estima software. Furthermore, he gave a demo of Estima software for the participants. Finally, he motivated the students to create innovative software that addresses the needs of civil engineer.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which participants engaged with the speaker.

A total of 43 students participated in the session. The event drew to a close at 04.30 p.m.
