The Women Empowerment Cell in association with the NSS Unit of AAACET organized an Eye Screening Training Program on 17th February 2026 at the Kamarajar Auditorium, Oxford Block. The program was designed to create awareness about eye health, emphasize the importance of early detection of vision problems, and provide practical training in basic eye screening techniques to students. The session was delivered by Dr. Sahithya Bhaskaran, M.S., FICO, Consultant in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus, and Vision Rehabilitation at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai. She explained common eye disorders such as refractive errors, squint (strabismus), amblyopia, and digital eye strain, while highlighting the importance of preventive eye care and early diagnosis. Her presentation ensured that students gained both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to eye health. A live eye screening training session was conducted, where students were given hands-on exposure to basic screening procedures and testing methods. Around 100 students actively participated in the program and benefited from the live demonstration and interactive session. The program was coordinated by Dr. N. Thenmoezhi, AP/ECE – Convenor, Dr. R. Anitha, AP/S&H – Event Coordinator, and Mrs. M. Jasmine Jayakodi, AP/Civil – Coordinator. The successful conduct of the event was made possible with the valuable support of Mr. S.
