The NSS unit of AAACET successfully organized a Tamil Nadu Fact Check Unit Sensitization Program on 17 February 2026. The program aimed to create awareness among students about the growing menace of misinformation and the importance of fact‑checking in safeguarding society. A total of 100 NSS volunteers actively participated in the session, reflecting their enthusiasm and commitment to civic responsibility. NSS Program Officer Mr.S.Balamurugan delivered an insightful presentation on the significance of fact‑checking mechanisms. He emphasized how misinformation can distort public opinion, weaken democratic processes, and mislead communities, highlighting the role of youth in countering such challenges. Adding depth to the discussion, NSS Volunteer Mr.M.Nambi Krishnan shared real‑world examples to illustrate how the younger generation is often misled by fake news circulating on social media platforms. His explanations provided practical clarity on the issue, enabling participants to better understand the subtle ways in which misinformation spreads and the critical need for vigilance. The interactive nature of the program encouraged volunteers to reflect on their own media consumption habits and commit to promoting truth and authenticity in their circles.
