Five-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Problem Solving and Advancements in Python Programming” from 23-06-2025 to 27-06- 2025

Duration:

23rd June 2025 – 27th June 2025

Mode & Venue:

Offline – Programming Lab 1, Oxford Block,
Department of CSE, Cambridge Block, AAACET

Organized by:

Department of Computer Science and Engineering,
AAA College of Engineering and Technology (AAACET)

Overview:

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at AAA College of Engineering and Technology (AAACET) conducted a Five-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Problem Solving and Advancements in Python Programming” from 23rd to 27th June 2025. This interdisciplinary FDP was designed to empower faculty members from various departments—including Mechanical, Civil, EEE, and CSE—with foundational and advanced knowledge of Python programming.

The program was organized under the banner of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), aiming to bridge the digital skill gap among engineering educators and promote coding proficiency for use in both teaching and research contexts.

Resource Person:

  • Mr. C. Chella Palani
Corporate Red Hat Trainer, Win Ways Complete Open Source, Madurai

Coordinators:

  • Mr. K. A. Mohammed Faiz, AP/CSE
  • Mr. S. Manikandan, AP/CSE

Objectives of the FDP:

  • Introduce core and advanced Python programming concepts
  • Enhance problem-solving and computational thinking
  • Enable interdisciplinary application of Python in academic and research scenarios
  • Offer hands-on coding sessions for practical implementation
  • Equip faculty with tools for technology-integrated teaching

Detailed Session Summary:

The FDP commenced with an inaugural session on 23rd June 2025, followed by technical sessions on the same day that included an Introduction to Python and topics like Data Types, Expressions, Statements, handled by Mr. C. Chella Palani, and sessions on Boolean Values and Operators and Lists and Strings by Mr. Asif Raja, AP/CSE. On 24th June, the sessions focused on Control Flow and Functions by Mr. S. Parameswaren, AP/CSE, followed by Tuples & Dictionaries by Dr. J. Hemalatha, HoD/CSE, and File Handling & Exception Handling by Mrs. Rajathi, AP/CSE. On 25th June, Mr. C. Chella Palani conducted back-to-back sessions on Files, Modules, Packages, followed by practical sessions in the afternoon. The FDP continued on 26th and 27th June with full-day hands-on sessions led by Mr. Chella Palani, culminating with a Feedback Session on the final day.

Outcome and Conclusion:

The FDP resulted in notable outcomes such as strengthened programming skills, enhanced understanding of computational thinking, and the ability to integrate Python programming across multiple engineering domains. Faculty members from CSE, Mechanical, Civil, and EEE departments participated actively and acquired the capability to implement Python in their teaching and research activities. The interactive nature of the sessions and extensive hands-on exposure significantly contributed to achieving the objectives of the program. In conclusion, the FDP was highly successful in promoting digital competency, interdisciplinary collaboration, and practical coding knowledge. The participants expressed great satisfaction and enthusiasm to implement their learning’s in academic and research settings, marking the event as a step forward in technological up skilling at AAACET.
