The Department of Mechanical Engineering of AAA College of Engineering and Technology, in association with the SAE INDIA Collegiate Club, organized a 3-day Hands-on Training in IoT from 01.09.2025 to 03.09.2025 at Sri Visvesvaraya Hall, AAA College of Engineering and Technology. The session was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. R. Selvabharathi (HOD/Mechanical Engineering). The resource person for the program was Mr. M. S. Kalyana Sundaram, M.E., (Ph.D), Assistant Professor / EEE & Coordinator – Centre of IIoT, AAACET, who shared his expertise in IoT applications. On Day 1, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of IoT, its architecture, and industrial applications. Brainstorming sessions enabled students to generate real-time problem-solving ideas using IoT. On Day 2, students gained hands-on experience with Arduino and Node MCU, exploring sensor interfacing, Arduino IDE coding, and wireless communication modules. They performed mini-experiments on temperature monitoring, motion detection, and basic home automation prototypes. On Day 3, the training focused on IoT cloud platforms such as Thing Speak and Blynk. Participant’s successfully uploaded data to the cloud, developed dashboards, and controlled appliances via mobile apps. Mini-projects including Smart Home Automation, IoT-based Weather Monitoring, and Gas Leakage Alert System were demonstrated. The 3-day program concluded with a valedictory session, certificate distribution, and feedback. The training enhanced students’ technical knowledge, practical skills, and confidence in IoT applications, preparing them for future research, projects, and industrial opportunities. As an outcome of this event, totally 16 IoT based mini projects were developed by the students. The program was effectively organized by Mr. A. Vignesh Moorthy Pandian and Mr. M. Nagendran.
